Somewhere down the road from Been Through It All came inspiration toward a new song. Upward comes from the part of life where surviving is no longer enough.
After loss, injustice, betrayal, grief, and years of carrying things most people will never see, there comes a point when you either stay buried under it or start climbing anyway.
This song is about that climb.
Not pretending the past did not happen. Not dressing pain up as inspiration. Just choosing, breath by breath, step by step, to move onward and upward in spite of it.
